Our 2024 Season is underway!

Scripps Ranch Little League

Spring 2021 Safety Plan

Greetings Scripps Ranch Little League community,

In these unprecedented times we are looking forward to be moving ahead with a spring baseball season.  Despite our excitement to return to the diamond, we are committed to return as safely as possible.   We have worked with city, the county, and Little League District 32 to develop a strategy to best mitigate the risk of COVID 19 transmission as the season gets underway.  Per the State of California: Blueprint for a Safer Economy which governs the criteria for various activities including youth sports, San Diego County is currently in the Purple Tier which corresponds to widespread transmission and is the highest risk level.  This is the highest risk tier, but provisions have been made by the county to allow youth sports practice and drills to be conducted.  While the season will undoubtedly look very different than years past and we cannot guarantee that transmission will not occur during SRLL activities, we are confident that we can and will have a season that is both fun and safe.  We have used the latest CDC and local public health guidance to develop our strategy.  As such, we would like to share with you our approach and safe reopening plan.

The overarching document that outlines youth sports in San Diego was developed by the county and compliance is required for all youth sports activities.   This document serves as the basis of how SRLL will conduct practices and drills while we remain in the Purple Tier.  Please note that as long as San Diego county is in the Purple Tier there will be NO games played.  We will only be able to hold team practices.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY YOUTH SPORTS PHYSICAL DISTANCING & SAFETY PLAN PRACTICE AND DRILLS

While the San Diego County safety plan provides excellent guidance, we have adopted some additional policies that will govern practices and drills while we remain in the Purple Tier.

SRLL COVID-19 Mitigation Strategy: 2021 Purple Tier Practice and Drills

Assessments will be conducted in a similar format to previous years.  In order to mitigate risk as much as possible, a detailed operations and safety plan has been developed.

SRLL COVID-19 Mitigation Strategy: 2021 Spring Baseball Assessments

The decision to participate is a balance of personal risk and we respect individual choices.  We will require all policies be adhered to.  Failure to adhere to policies places other children and families at risk and will not be tolerated as stipulated in the SRLL COVID-19 Mitigation Strategy: 2021 Purple Tier Practice and Drills document.

As noted above, this season will undoubtedly be different.  We may have to cut some of our traditional events such as Opening Day/Closing Day, picture day, team parties, etc.  We want to have the best experience possible, but will not compromise the safety of your children and families for such events.  In this vein, please note that the reduced fees for this season are collected to cover the fixed operating costs of SRLL.  In the event that a season cannot move forward, the Board of Directors will be responsible for determining the timing and amount of any refunds.

As part of the San Diego County Safety Plan, we are required to have on file a commitment by a guardian for EVERY player to be on the field.  Please click on the link below or your child will not be allowed to participate in assessments or practice:

If you have concerns about your child participating in SRLL activities prior to high risk individuals in your household being vaccinated, please reach out to us.  We are happy to discuss any policies or concerns individually and look forward to making the best of the season.
